License and Compliance

 

Evening Star Early Learning Center NFP is committed to maintaining full compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations governing early learning programs. The health, safety, and well-being of children, families, staff, and the surrounding community is our highest priority.


Licensing Status

Evening Star Early Learning Center NFP operates as a licensed early learning program in accordance with Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) regulations and City of Chicago requirements. The program follows all standards outlined in DCFS Rule 407 for childcare facilities.

Licensing inspections and approvals are completed prior to program operation and maintained through regular monitoring and compliance reviews.


Regulatory Oversight

Our program is subject to inspection and oversight by the following agencies, as applicable:

  • Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS)
  • City of Chicago Department of Buildings
  • Chicago Department of Public Health
  • Chicago Fire Department and Chicago Metropolitan Fire Prevention
  • Electrical, plumbing, and health inspectors as required


Health and Safety Standards

Evening Star Early Learning Center NFP adheres to strict health and safety protocols, including but not limited to:

  • Fire safety systems compliant with NFPA standards, including fire alarm systems, pull stations, and smoke detection
  • Clearly marked and accessible emergency exits
  • Routine building, electrical, and plumbing inspections
  • Safe food handling practices in accordance with local health regulations
  • Daily cleaning and sanitation procedures
  • Secure entry and monitoring systems to protect children and staff


Emergency Preparedness

The program maintains written emergency preparedness and risk management plans that address:

  • Fire and evacuation procedures
  • Severe weather and emergency sheltering
  • Medical emergencies
  • Incident reporting and response
  • Communication protocols with families and emergency responders

Staff receive training on emergency procedures to ensure a safe and coordinated response at all times.


Staff Qualifications and Training

All staff members meet or exceed licensing requirements for education, background checks, and ongoing professional development. Requirements include:

  • State and federal background checks
  • Mandated reporter training
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Ongoing professional development aligned with early childhood best practices


Facility Standards

Our facility is designed and maintained to support safe, developmentally appropriate learning environments. This includes:

  • Age-appropriate classroom layouts
  • Safe indoor and outdoor play areas
  • Compliance with occupancy, square footage, and supervision requirements
  • Routine maintenance and safety inspections


Continuous Compliance

Evening Star Early Learning Center NFP maintains active documentation to ensure continuous compliance, including inspection reports, corrective action plans when applicable, and internal reviews. Compliance records are available upon request for authorized agencies and partners.
